The sad thing is that these teachers are ONLY thinking about Covid.... and its very minimal risk to children. They are not considering all the other risks to children by not having schools... depression, suicide, lack of reporting child abuse, and so many other consequences of closing in-peron learning. It is very shortsighted and they are not doing what is best for kids. [twitter]https://twitter.com/DLeonhardt/status/1478351892463984641[/twitter]
The sad thing is parents are confusing teachers with social workers. Their job is to educate not to make sure your children are not suicidal at home. I believe that falls under parenting.
Minimal risk to children - but then there are the children who lost one or both parents, or grandparents, or others to COVID, and we know it can spread via the schools. Anyone who's had kids knows that kids are constantly bringing bugs home.
What you're saying is on its face logical and was the reason schools closed initially. But then schools were found to not be a significant source of transmission. So the data does not support your belief. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7004e3.htm
