Girls HS soccer is mostly kick and run, even at the top schools. Pretty much every ECNL and GA player we know was offered a varsity spot as a freshman.
+1. They won't necessarily be starters at the big name private schools and wealthy public schools, but they will make varsity as a freshman. Anywhere else, they will probably be one of the starters.
Agreed which is why I dont understand parents complaining. I will say a number of the top private schools dont let freshmen on varsity without exceptional exemption but almost always those freshmen are allowed to practice with varsity hence my mystification with parents whining about their kids not making team. I do think a number of ecnl kids dont make the cut and oh well they are just not that good.
This is a load of garbage. You tell me how a third or fourth team player is more deserving to make a Varsity HS team over an ECNL player of ANY caliber. The former making it is purely political and that's all there is to it. And that leads to a team and a coach who don't deserve to win, and usually don't.
Most HS soccer is horrible. The coaches play the biggest and fastest kids. They don't care about technical ability. They just want to win, even at jv.
How horrible! A high school coach just wants to win. Please explain what they should be doing other than trying to win? It’s literally the job of a high school coach. High school soccer is not an environment set up for player development or college recruiting. That’s exactly what ECNL is doing.
