It's not misinformation. This CDC report says that effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine went from 80 perfect down to 33 percent for infections. They then recommend booster shots to increase the effectiveness.

You anti-vaxxers argued for months that case counts didn't matter and what mattered was deaths and hospitalizations because "covid is like a cold or flu for everyone except the elderly and fat".
