History I-banking 220k
How does a history major get into international banking?
I would assume some sort of pedigree is involved.
You mean like a degree from an Ivy? No, not at all.
You got lucky
Not at all. Look into large banks.
NP. This is why the whole “you can’t make money with a liberal arts degree” stuff is so silly. This practice has been common for decades. In many industries, they are looking for qualities (e.g., analytical ability), not specific undergraduate training.
+1. Same with training programs in pharmaceutical industry. Very few science majors. Pretty much all DS’s class were liberal arts majors.
I went into IB from Brown and 1/3 of the class was purely humanities. Corporate banking hires anything. The STEM ones go into quant research, not IB. My DC1 is in the PMLE program and he has classmates doing art and taking classes at RISD. I told him to keep in touch with them because those are going for the plastic surgery residency.
