We are not elite but we do have a seven figure income and spend $100k+ on travel per year. We do not come from family money and don’t pretend to be rich. We just like to travel and have 3 kids. We stay at luxury resorts like four seasons, Ritz, mandarin oriental, rosewood, etc. We stay in a 2 bedroom suite. We like to travel all four seasons. In the winter, we do a mix of ski and sun. We don’t do skip trips to Europe but will do park city and some drivable weekend ski trips. Yes, it is icy and not great conditions but my kids love to ski. I personally love going to Mexico or Caribbean and stay at a nice resort with spa. We do kid oriented trips since we have 3 kids and don’t care if some snobby people think it is low brow. My kids enjoyed Legoland, Dutch wonderland, Disney, universal, etc. we will go to friends’ beach houses. We have enough money that if I see a place that looks fun, we can plan to go. During covid, we rented homes. It does cost more and it is comfortable. I missed room service and amenities though. We know people who rent fully staffed homes. We have yet to do this.
This isn't what we are talking about on this thread. We are talking about people much richer than you.
We have some friends - the husband is a CEO - working rich - who is probably well on their way to elite now. We were invited to one vacation they took at a staffed villa in Europe. It was insane. Everyone dressed for dinner (beautiful dresses etc) even though "at home" - Michelin quality chefs/food/wine. Dinner/lunch was served in a different location each day depending on the days plans. The host (wife) would work with the female majordomo each morning on the day's plans. The boat would pick us up some days from the private launch pickup to take us to lunches. Back at villa for afternoon hangout/tennis and then cocktails at 7 promptly. I felt like I had entered another world. It was amazing. The hosts clearly have a lot of excess wealth to travel like this. It appeared (before we got there) that the husband had some business dinners their for his company (so maybe they expensed the whole thing). Anyway, it was mindblowing.
