Progressivism has grown too radical and, ironically, extremely illiberal. We need to push back in every way we can, and in this case, that included voting straight ticket Republican.
This. The illiberal left is scary.
I don’t understand what illiberal left means. It was in a news article today and I also didn’t understand it then.
“Illiberal left” refers to the idea that some have turned the positions on the left into an orthodoxy and are intolerant of people who may feel differently, or question those positions, or failed in the past to live up to them. Liberal can be defined as broad-minded*. Today’s “liberals”, which are associated with the left, often seem anything but. In the 60’s they were rebelling against the conservative establishment to get their ideas a fair hearing and encourage people to consider alternative viewpoints. However today, instead of being interested in encouraging a vibrant, open, exchange of ideas and subjecting all sides to a vigorous debate, they are just as dogmatic (or more so) in espousing the correct (“liberal”/left) ideas and persecuting anyone who does not think “correctly”, as previous conservative generations ever were. * https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/liberal
That helps. I agree.
