The sponsors have to at this point. They'd get killed otherwise. They will give her time to take care of herself, but if it persists too long, then they will eventually turn on her. I ran sponsorships for a major sports brand and we would always give the athlete a chance, but there comes a point where you can't have a major endorser not engaging with media.

Lastly, Nike, as an example, has major rankings/win bonuses tied to both escalators in base pay and bonuses. So, if it were to persist and she took a long enough time away from competition that her ranking would come down, they pay would also come down thus mitigation any financial pressure on the brand, which would allow them to carry her on the roster for a much longer time period.[/quote]
