I am devastated.  My kids don't qualify for group 1, barely, we are under the IEP hours threshold, but they are really really struggling.  This is such a kick in the teeth.  He put out metrics, then tossed them literally the day that showed we had met them.  He specifically said that waiting for a vaccine couldn't be the answer, then he decided to wait for a vaccination.  What is going to happen when vaccine distribution gets delayed?  What if Fairfax county doesn't have the 2nd dose to give out at day 28?  another week?? another week??? come on, do better.[/quote]

I am with you PP- my child doesn’t have an IEP but is in second grade and has learned nothing from virtual learning this year except to hate school. We are running on fumes and Fed up with Noonan proclaiming his commitment to getting kids back in the classroom and getting our hopes up with specific return dates only to backpedal at the last minute (despite the circumstances/metrics remaining unchanged). It would have been far better if he had just been honest about his reticence so we could plan accordingly and/or seek alternatives. At this point I feel like he is just setting arbitrary fake dates to placate us and try to prevent students from leaving and taking their tax dollars with them.  This latest announcement sealed the deal for us to transfer to private for next year as we just no longer feel we can trust FCCPS.[/quote]
