Figured it out! The vets receptionist actually did. This GD dog gets so stressed when crated she will get diarrhea. I started logging all her past episodes and it’s always been either in her crate or shortly after she’s been crated. And I’m talking crating for just a few hrs to run errands or go to dinner. Because the princess is sleeping next to my DH on her bed now so no longer crating at night. I can’t believe we got a dog with this issue and if I had the past owners number I would send him a nice love note text. He obviously didn’t want to deal with her issue. So I told my DH we will HAVE to use doggy daycare and HAVE to find a dog sitter when we go out at night until she can be left alone without damaging anything. I will not crate her because I am not willing to take the chance having this explosive situation happen again. Because it is a surprise attack and comes on very sudden and she can’t control it.
Couple of things, your dog is the product of poor breeding, many dogs are so not a surprise. Second, dogs are dogs. Not humans. The rank order of their pack is significant and can motivate most of their behaviors. Sleeping on the bed with you and/or your husband tells your dog that she is an alpha dog. Well-behaved dogs are dogs that understand who is in charge and who runs the pack. You don't have a tiny dog, you have a big dog that can be destructive and dangerous unless properly trained.
She sleeps on her bed on the floor nest to my DH btw. But I do believe it is poor breeding like you said. Also her particular breed can be destructive but certainly not dangerous. I have her trainer come once a week and I work with her half hr a day. She is doing really well and learning to stay on her bed while we eat dinner but I’m still having a tough time keeping her from floating around my kitchen and jumping up on counter, which is my complete nemesis. That is my no fly zone !
