OP here. Yay finally convinced my DH to let me enroll her in doggie daycare! He said, “well I’m not gonna take her”! I said no problem I will handle it kemosabe! I’m so excited to see how she is after she’s had the energy release playing with other dogs. Because she is just so full of energy and out of control with us two old farts it’s exhausting.
Why in earth would you offer to take on this chore for a dog your husband got without consulting you and refuses to take responsibility for? You’re just giving him the green light to keep disrespecting and walking all over you.
Because it’s either that or divorce. The doggie daycare is literally 3 mts from our house and I don’t work so I will happily take her and pick her up. Trust me it’s more of an inconvenience to deal with her energy while I’m trying to relax. Also to prove a point to my hardheaded DH who thinks he knows how to raise dogs! When he sees how much better she behaves on the days she’s had hrs of exercise maybe the lightbulb will go off! Errrrr
As everyone has said daycare is not training. You need to train a puppy. Get a trainer that will work with you and you husband. For God's sake you don't even work TRAIN THE PUPPY.
We have a trainer too who comes once a week. I’m working with the dog a lot and she’s super smart for the breed. Even her Trainer says she is smarter than the average dog her breed. It’s my lazy DH who has no patience with her and seeing this I have had a change of heart and have decided to step in and take charge of this damn dog. I’m pissed at my DH now because he brought home a puppy that he has no desire or patience to train and give her the exercise she needs. I told my DH he will no longer yell at her and scold her because it only frightens her. It’s not the dogs fault I’ve come to realize. I also told my DH she will be my dog from now own and I will take over her care to train, take to doggie care, bath and feed. Because I want a sweet trained dog living with us! I guess I didn’t want dog because I’ve experienced the terrible heartbreak of eventually losing them and I didn’t want to go through that again. Especially this breed that has a short lifespan. This last dog I lost I slept with her collar for months
You sound like a very nice person OP. I hope it all works out for you, but DH needs to acknowledge his role in this fiasco. He owes you an apology!!
