Glad your child's coach is doing a great job. Ours isn't particularly organized or pleasant to the kids. Many have complained and RMSC hasn't done anything to change things. It got better for a while but now back normal. Coaches could have been flexible with the times and polled parents on when was good for them/other activities but they didn't. But, even if they did, you still have lots of kids who are very sporadic to attendance. Given its team, not rec swim, they should be required to attend the majority of practices to maintain their spot. Lots of kids who want to be on the team who would attend don't get on because other families hold slots they aren't really using.
I mean they could have done a lot of things but it's a pandemic and they are making things up as they go. I think that given everything they are dealing with the safety protocols are good and they are enforced. RMSC does have a minimum practice requirement. Depending on the group it could be 1 practice a week or 5. They aren't set up for all those masses of kids to attend the majority of practices. As it was you sometimes had 12 or more kids in a lane for the younger groups in the past.
They are doing a very good job with covid or at least in our group for the actual sessions in terms of keeping kids apart and as safe as they can. They are also doing better on making sure kids get to an adult where they never did that before and it was a free for all in the locker rooms and other areas. I hope they continue the smaller groups as its far better. Some of the private teams are having 4 kids (or more) to a lane, which is concerning to me. We have kids who don't show up for weeks at a time and still on the team or maybe show up every 2-3 weeks. They may have the rule but they don't enforce it depending on the coach/team.
