OP, if you are still reading, I suggest you make a chore chart for the dpg. Kids 8 and up can participate in walks, training, feeding, cleanup etc. I do sox walks a week and they so the rest. There are online training classes—get your husband to commit to one now.
This is what aggravates me about “mom advice”. Now on top of all the other BS, she has to manage a chore chart and find a class and get her husband to commit to it. It’s the wife’s busy work, mental toil, unfulfilled time spent and likely wasted. Aggravation.
I agree. She is the one who didn’t even really want a dog. Husband should be the one doing this. And expecting the kids to do this is stupid. Sure they’ll do it for a month but then they have activities, are sick, it’s raining and dark and who sends an 8 yr old outside by herself to walk a young dog around anyway (it’s not like a walk in front the house will really help). Most puppies need to have long walks. Get rid of the dog OP. Don’t get another pet unless you want it. Your husband has shown that he doesn’t really want to put in the work. He remembers having a fun dog and his mom did all the work caring for it.
