Absolutely; swim meets are much much safer than soccer or even baseball, because no one ever touches anyone else, and everyone is in their own lane (and under water). The problem is lining up at the blocks. The solution will be that meets take longer because kids will not be allowed to crowd behind the blocks by heats. This probably means there will be more meets with cut times.[/quote]

Totally agree - my kids just played in three soccer games this weekend and in each game, the kids were all over each other and had super close contact for over an hour.  And only one kid wore a mask (our county in MD does not require them). The only kid who was "socially distanced" was the keeper. Swim meets with social distancing in place for line up in the clerk of course would feel much safer.

Back to the original topic of this thread, for anyone part of MD Swimming, they are starting to sanction virtual meets as of next week!
