We grew up comfortable but from generations of "comfortable or more than comfortable" means. We are all well educated. We (4 siblings) are all comfortable or much, much more than comfortable now, but she has no idea what is in mine or my brothers' bank account (I do because I'm give my brothers financial advice). It's just really weird that she lies about how much everything costs when on paper she is doing just fine and has no reason to project. She's also not flashy at all, so I think she just likes to exaggerate about her expenses; even though her mortgage is paid off and they drive nice, domestic cars.

She is just really weird about that club. I don't think they hang out there that much, except to play golf. Her husband uses it for business dinners and they use the pool in the summer. Weird.

Technically you are not allowed to conduct business there. It is strictly a social club. (although we all know that the line is very fuzzy)
