OP the problem is not just that Blair is a mega school. The problem is the population. Opening up without a vaccine or viable treatments is predicated on identifying infected individuals quickly, contact tracing and quarantining those possibly infected before they spread it to others. This is most difficult with the younger population that can be asymptomatic spreaders. If you have an infected staff or student at Blair you are going to have far more contacts across the county than an infected staff or student at Whitman. Within the pool of contacts at Blair you will have students who live in high density situations such as apartments or multiple families living in one SFH due to the high poverty compared to a student at Whitman where a small fraction of the students are in apartments. In a poorer population you also have more families taking public transportation, not being able to take a sick day, not having health insurance or not having the education to seek care or self isolate. This makes them more likely to catch the virus. Having magnet students from all over the DCC through CAPS or all over the western side of the county through SMACs brings in more students that could pick it up in their communities or conversely pick it up from one of the local Blair students who is likely to be in high risk of contagion population. I'm not saying that a huge population of students doesn't make it extra problematic. It does as more students are traveling through common areas and shared bathrooms. However, the real reason Blair is a particular nightmare in this situation is the local population and having two magnets.
Blair isn't any more of a nightmare than any other school, you are just being hysterical. That isn't to say Blair won't be hit harder or more staff gets sick, but you don't know and are simply looking for reasons to continue to hide in fear. There will always be a reason someone doesn't want to die, it can be hard to get out there and live.
OMG this... they all open or none of them open. If youre scared keep your kid at home and register for home school since private is likely out of the question seeing which part of the county we are talking about.
