This. My elementary school has over 800 students. Plus staff. It's crowded on a good day. And, impossible to sanitize. Plus, a large amount of kids are on FARMS, so they can't get rid of food service in the cafeteria. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to reopen in the fall.
OK, but it would also be IMPOSSIBLE to NOT reopen in the fall. So, now what?
This. We are re-opening this summer. People are going to end up getting exposed under our flatter curve model. And by fall, we'll be back in schools. I don't know why so many DCUMers are in denial about this.
Then why are ALL the camps cancelling?
That's entirely non responsive to my point. Slow reopen through summer to keep cases and hospitalizations plateaued. Does that include opening summer camps? Probably not until the back half of the summer, if at all, but it's very VERY clear the goal is to reopen schools in the fall.
