The people at this rally voted for Trump the first time and they were gonna vote for him again. Who cares. All that matters is that the democrats show up. And they can’t vote if they’re dead. So, Whitmer is definitely making the right call.
This! I live in Michigan. There are good things hsppening with the "draconian" restrictions in place. The convention center they turned into a hospital only has a few patients, not 900. Another place is not going to open because the curve is flattened. These restrictions only go to the end of the month. It snowed today in Michigan so you don't need to be out on your damn boat. No one puts flowers in here until Memorial Day if they are smart. This just hysterical conservatives trying to takr down a woman. I think the weakest part of her order was banning construction and landscaping. That was problematic.
It's amazing how you people keep referring to her gender. Are people not allowed to protest measures by an elected official if that official is A WOMAN??? JFC. As to your last sentence, I completely agree. These are industries which can easily still be in business, just as they are here in VA. Lots of construction and landscaping projects going on around my town. Face it - while her restrictions are similar to many other states, she does take it too far.
Dp- so Virginia and Michigan are having similar numbers of infection? Let’s see Virginia - 5275 Michigan - 28,059
Exactly. There was a thread here last week or so that Whitmer hadn't done enough, quick enough, even though she closed things down within a day of Ohio. Michigan is a different state. The intense travel the auto industry folks do spread it quickly in Oakland County, where the auto execs live. Then they brought it to Detroit, where it caught like wildfire in a dense, poor city. Whitmer also put those rules, which also included not traveling to other people's homes, in place before Easter. She was also trying to discourage family spread over that holiday. But the truth is, and I live in Michigan now, that people aren't being hauled away or even ticketed. They are being warned. She has to go by the numbers she sees. Not happy with all the rules, but I get why she's making them.
