We really need a Mormon Real Housewives. Who has a contact at Bravo?
Can someone explain the Mormon culture to me? How are so many so wealthy? Why do they blog and live like this (turtle creek lady being the extreme example)
Well they aren’t all rich. But in the Mormon culture there is ZERO shame in being rich and flashing it as long as you’re a good (read:tithing) member of the church. The more you have, the more the church gets. As for Mormon women, blogging is popular for the same reason why MLM schemes are. Women are very much discouraged from working outside the home and they have kids early. They’re college educated but are discouraged from using their degrees, in the case of UMC Mormon women. There’s also hiring discrimination because ppl assume they’ll quit at age 23 to have a kid.
The boys go on 2 year mission trips around the world after high school. They are the boys you see wearing white shirts, ties and pedaling bikes around town in groups of two. They learn how to talk to strangers and learn other languages and learn how to live internationally. These are all good skills for future businessmen to learn. Contrast this with a recent thread of the 15 year old who broke out into tears as she was unable to talk to a girl scout selling girl scout cookies.
