I think you're right and Bolton is pissed.  He wants to get paid, and I don't really think he gives two hoots what Trump or the senate thinks.  But he's no fool.  He's not going to do anything that might land him in jail.

Also, Trump wants to win as the state of NY is waiting for him.  There are non-WH things he has done that he can't run from.  He couldn't even run from Trump University and had to pay nor his so-called charity.  How can you be outlawed from ever running a charity and paying $2 million settlement after admitting he used his charity for his campaign and business debts?  There're a whole lotta of illegal stuff waiting for him when he leaves the WH.  I never doubted that he tried to hustle Ukraine.  His past speaks volumes.
