SSMA has taken quite a beating lately, but is it a viable option for PreK 3 & PreK 4? I wanted a Montessori education for my oldest last year, but it looks like Langdon and Nalle don’t accept kids into Pre-K 4 without previous Montessori experience. Would it be completely nuts to do PreK 4 at SSMA and then lottery into Langdon in 2021?
What's your IB? Are you OK with going there or staying at SS for. K if you don't get a spot at Langdon? There are a few other Montessori in the area top
Langdon is my IB. The only other nearby Montessori is Lee and I don't think I stand a chance of getting in there.
If langdon is you IB then you will get a seat for K+ if you go and enroll at any point during the year of K +grades they have to take you if you are IB. So, you could definitely go to Prk where ever and then go to Langdon for K or 1st etc. But keep in mind what connections and community you might be building and or leaving. Our HRC isn't really all that open arms for new families it seems to take a couple years to build that community if you are post Prk. But then that seems kind of typical for dc post Prk. Best of luck! You might also consider some summer programs that are at Montessori Private schools and similar programs if you don't want to deal with moving schools.
