Loudoun ECNL has played 78 games and won 22 of them. 1/3 of their club ECNL wins is thanks to the 07 team. But, again, MU is to blaim for dilution. The biggest soccer club in Virginia has a losing record in ECNL.
Loudoun 07 is their first team that had a defined path to stay within the club for higher level (ECNL, DA) soccer. Previously, the top players left Loudoun and went to FCV, McLean etc. When Loudoun got ECNL, they essentially took their top teams at the older age groups (which were essentially "B" teams since the elite talent left) and made them their ECNL teams. Of course they would struggle. The real evaluation on how Loudoun will fare long-term rests with the 07s, 08s, 09s, etc. as they progress through ECNL. Sounds like the 07s are doing just fine, and only time will tell on the younger groups.
So Loudoun should stay in ECNL because of the performance of one team and Metro should lose DA over the performance of one team.
PP here. I stated nothing about MU, their future, etc. Just providing context around the "biggest soccer club in Virginia has a losing record in ECNL" statement previously made.
And there is similar context around MU's/Spirit's poor start. Spirit started from scratch and Loudoun started with the largest Soccer Club in Virginia. Considering Loudoun's HUGE advantage of player pool, facilities etc, one would have thought that Loudoun would have fared far better than Metro. Arlington faced similar issues as Loudoun and yet they are a more than competitive DA 3 years later while Loudoun only has the 07's. Arlington lost players to former ECNL clubs FCV and McLean in the same way Loudoun did so how has Arlington shown such a dramatic improvement across all age groups while Loudoun has just been bad?
