My guess is abusive.  He asked her to work there after he found out her dad died (so she is vulnerable) and they made a point of saying he was much older.  He also gives off a bit of a creep vibe to me.  Not sure why.  [/quote]

Yeah, I noticed that, too, and it surprised me. Maybe she got pregnant and had an abortion or something? That would be an intense/difficult experience that Rebecca might have been too checked out to notice but that would not leave Kate with bad feelings toward Mark personally.[/quote]
