I don't think that's it. I haven't seen or heard any suggestion about Jack committing suicide. That doesn't really make any sense to me. He would have never done that to his family, and he wasn't depressed at the time of the fire. He died from the fire because of his superhero devotion to his family and running in to save the dog and family heirlooms.

Also, she seemed surprised by the photo, like she had forgotten about Marc. If she had lingering issues from his suicide that came up again with Toby, Marc wouldn't have been such a distant memory.

I think he's going to be abusive/stalker-ish. He invited himself over, looked up her address from her job app, insisted he was her boyfriend after she said he was her friend. All small things but would look like red flags in hindsight if he turns out to be controlling and abusive. Plus Kate is in a very vulnerable place, probably longing for affection and attention but without her protective dad or clued in mother to see what's happening.[/quote]

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I know Jack (Kate’s dad) did not kill him self. But there were moments in earlier seasons where Kate has a very strong reaction to the idea of suicide. At the time, this was before we knew how jack died, and there was speculation due to Kate’s reaction to suicide, that jack has killed himself and that’s why she got so emotional about the idea of suicide.
