There are 4 WCAC schools in football.  CG, DM, GZ and SJC.  The rest are garbage.  MAC level.  The big 4 have lower tuition allowing more financial aid to potential athletes and much larger enrollments.  People always talk about GP and their 500 students but about 115 of those students are borders.  Their non-border student body is much closer to the 390 or so.  I can promise you GP's football, basketball and lacrosse teams aren't made up of kids from Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan and South Korea paying $60K/year to go there.

Good point but, your argument does have a flaw. Sidwell Friends is cranking out D1 football and basketball players in the last 5 years. Demographics in terms of self pay and size of school (high school) are similar to GP. How come GP can’t pull the same caliber of D1 talent as Sidwell and soon to be others? [/quote]

You're seriously going to compare Sidwell's football to Prep's?  Prep isn't on the level of the Big 4 WCAC's but they're definitely at that next level and probably #5  in the DC metro area the last couple years.  Sidwell is the joke of a joke conference in football. 1 three star recruit to a mediocre  (Stanford is #61  RPI) school in a decent conference doesn't make up for regular 40+ loses to average (being generous with that word) teams.

Basketball's a different story.  It just takes a couple kids to make a team seriously competitive.  A small school can get a few good players and with a little luck have a couple good seasons.  Long term schools schools like Flint Hill, SSSAS and Sidwell won't be able to compete with the top WCAC schools but they can have their up years.[/quote]
