I pretty much never hear how things are so much better today than they were 50 years ago. The general tone of gender relations is extremely negative with little-to-no recognition that things have been improving. The sentiment seems to be that things suck and that's that.
I’m a woman and a minority, and I’m happy with the way things are now. I would have hated living in this country 50 years ago.
Good deal. It's probably just a function of negative voices usually being louder than positive ones. This isn't gender-specific, but there is a steady drumbeat about how things today suck, not like the good-old-days, and yet century after century things seem to generally improve overall.
