Illegal immigration has a hugely negative impact on schools. All those candidate website except Bidens said they are for amnesty. Terrible policy.
That is true, but Biden is in favor of doing nothing at all, which only lets the problem grow bigger and bigger.
Biden was apart of the administration with the most effective deportation system. The laws that govern deportation work as is but can be improved (ie allowing families to be held together for much longer, ensuring that families are deported together not separately, deported straight from the courtroom or as soon as the deportation is ordered, law enforcement goes to their last known address to deport) so that people dont languish for years after being ordered deported . There can be improvements to other areas of immigration but Presodent Obama's administration did well in this area.
I agree. The neo-liberals want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. We never learn from past efforts . . .
The problem we have now is the problem Obama and Biden created. They promised to prioritize immigration reform, and didn't deliver. They approved a joke of an executive order, which Trump reversed with a simple signature. Meanwhile, they separated millions of families while NOT solving the problem. Kicking the can forward and making it bigger is "doing well"? I'm afraind you have no idea what you are talking about.
President Obama did prioritize immigration reform and even deported 3 million people to show he was serious on the enforcement side. Republicans blocked any sort of compromise. What was the executive order you're referring to? DACA? While I really liked president Obama that was fair game. Any executive order a president signed can be undone by the next president. He did the best he could with what he had. People should be grateful for that as he didn't have to do that either. You're going to have to explain what separating families means. How did the Obama administration do that?
Obama/ Biden deported over one million parents of American children. How's that for separating families, our lovely friend?
Catch and release - That was his thing. The biggest issue he faced were the unaccompanied minors around 2014 (?). We had to take them in. But if you don't allow illegal immigrants to enter, you're not growing the problem. We are growing the problem b/c the sides are fighting. Which one of you Ds slammed Obama for his policy? Overall, I don't remember anyone criticizing it for being inhumane. Based on personal experience, however, my school at the time re-allocated funding b/c we needed an additional ESOL teacher. That's when turf wars started and hell broke loose each week. I heard complaints then - and plenty of them.
Oh please.. Trump also resorted to catch and release. Just look at the latest raid where half the folks were released. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/apr/03/mexico-border-us-expands-catch-and-release-practice
