Many teachers post here about the injustices in Education. The only way to solve these problems is to recognize there are problems. This is MCPS's problem. As a teacher my goal is to solve problem in education. The rape, violence, fraud, and systematic abuse has got to stop. If you just going along with it then you are just as much a culprit as the perpetrators.
Are we really sure that it’s that many teachers rather than a handful rehashing? You know the one or two people at your job who are already having a bad day at 8 am every single day and can be counted on to balk at any reform effort don’t represent the majority of your colleagues. A couple days ago, I sat in PD across from a woman who taught my eldest over a decade ago. This woman has not updated anything in that time span. Her methods, materials, and morale are still crap. (Praying my youngest gets someone else this year.) Meanwhile, everyone else was energized and sharing things that worked great last year. She shared one project that was already old when my eldest did it in 2007. It was incomprehensible then and is incomprehensible now. The only “update” was that she typed it into Google Docs rather than Word. Then, she spent the rest of the time complaining about the students.
