You don't understand her problem? The Dems played dirty pool. They wanted to convict Kavanaugh for being an assaulter without evidence. That put her in the position of defending justice. They were trying to eliminate due process. Sure, this was in a hearing and not in a court. But, they were trying him publicly with no proof--and no evidence. To most American people, IMO, Blasey Ford appeared to be a flake.
+ a million. And, flake or not, there was zero evidence. Further, whatever evidence existed, it contradicted her story, like those supposed witnesses who couldn't remember a single thing she was talking about. Dems tried to resurrect the Inquisition and it backfired. I'm pretty confident this is one of the things that will help the GOP retain the Senate in 2020, whatever happens in the WH.
+ 2 million Completely agree. Susan Collins has more integrity in her little finger than all of the Democratic senators combined. I was so moved and inspired by her words re: why she voted to confirm Kavanaugh. That "hearing" was little more than a carefully planned optic on the Democrats' part to try and condemn a man based on ONE 35+ year old allegation with no evidence. It was absurd. Kavanaugh has had a sterling career as a judge - and mentor to many, who has hired more minority and female clerks than ANY other justice, ever. And Democrats were hoping that ONE unfounded allegation from his high school years would prevent him from being confirmed. So pathetic and I will never forget the spectacle they put him through. I'd vote for Susan Collins in a heartbeat if she was running for president. If only.
+ another million And, it was a carefully planned and well-financed effort to thwart the confirmation of an extremely well-qualified judge. Loved Susan Collins' speech. And, I think the Kavanaugh hearing was most of the reason Republicans retained the Senate in 2018. The majority of Americans were disgusted by the actions of the Dems.
This. Every time I think back to that hearing, my skin crawls. I was an independent before that, but now I'm certain I'll never vote for a Democrat.
Same here. It was one of the most disgusting things I have seen in my life, and all Dem Senators were complicit.
+100
Your skin crawls ... but not because a big red-faced man baby was whining and crying because he might not get the ice cream cone he was promised and IS ENTITLED TO? His behavior was utterly gross and exactly what I'd expect from someone like him.
You are completely unhinged. I would expect anyone who was accused of something (that they flatly DENIED, btw) to behave defensively. Especially when it's clear that the firing squad asking the questions has already made up their minds that said person is guilty - regardless of having no evidence to back up that judgment. Thank goodness common sense saved the day. And Susan Collins, of course.
Pyrrhic victory for Collins. She's toast.
