And almost all of the upper middle class and wealthy kids in Alexandria go to private school. Alexandria has 144,000 people and one public high school, Arlington has 220,000 people and 4 high schools. There's something like 10,000 kids just in private elementary in Alexandria. You're not really comparing the performance of these systems fairly by cherry-picking the top schools in Fairfax and ignoring the fact that the public system in Alexandria primarily serves lower-income students.
