I feel like the type of person who has visible tattoos is also down with social media- or at least unquestioning/comfortable with it. Or at least there is a lack of judgement these days with people perseverating on good and bad times. Like it’s not dishonorable to overshare. I’m more private with my thoughts/feelings- Don’t need to post them and don’t need them on my body. When I go through something great/hard/memorable/painful- my first inclination is not to put it on my body or post it. I will remember it- can’t help but do so-for better or worse. So when I see tattoos I do assume that person is more superficial/needs attention somehow- not necessarily trashy.
Older millennial here. DH has multiple tattoos, none of which are visible in typical work attire. I have zero, but no particular aversion to them, just never felt compelled to get one. I tend to like them in other people when it's part of their style and not an ill-advised choice from high school. Neither DH nor I are on social media, by the way.
