Not sure why it is so hard for people to grasp that if STJFCV or whatever they will be called actually moves trainings to STJ full-time, it will just attract a different geography of players.  Obviously if the staff changes or the costs change, decisions MAY be affected.  But you could speculate like that about every single club and every single team in those clubs.

It is truly a stupid thing to be this worried about unless you have a kid on FCV and you aren't willing to make that drive.  If you don't have a kid on FCV why do you care about how far others drive.  The BDA and the GDA attract a much wider geography of players that other levels, followed closely by ECNL.  This isn't that big of a deal except to those that are bitter and envious of everyone else outside their club and team.  To those people, get a life.

I too think it is silly for so many to troll on this board as it comes across as very petty...shows the true personality behind the anonymity of a keyboard.
If you have a kid at FCV, then take it a season at a time and if a drive to Springfield is necessary, then so be it.  You are correct that the geography base is much wider.  Much more than people who don't play at a DA club realize I believe.

I don't really enjoy driving anywhere to be honest.  But what I do know for sure is that I am certainly not going to waste my time driving to training for a coach that is developing players.  I don't care how close or far it is.

At least you are coming to terms that FCV will ultimately be at the St. James. That is a first step. Of course there will be people who will make the drive. It is just that many people seem to be clinging on to the hope that FCV will stay at Evergreen and in Loudoun in general.

So, step one is to come to terms with the likely outcome and that is within two years FCV's DA will be Springfield based.

Step two is to rationalize the drive because of the quality of the program while driving past several programs.

Again, this works fine for the tight carpool of starting players who get no less than 60 minutes a game.

But lets say you are a perennial second half sub who year after year just can't crack that starting spot. Is the drive worth it? Long drive, no HS soccer, no real role on the team, perennial backup?

Then the grades start to slip because you're giving up nearly 3 hours alone to sitting in a car and not getting home until 10 or 10:30. I'm sure lots of homework will get done in the carpool.

Then the truth starts to slip in that all along the college coaches were interested in your player because your player is GOOD and not actually the team or the club they play for. All of a sudden your DD is allowed to talk to the coaches herself and she takes ownership of the process as her own best advocate and little by little the club becomes less and less important.

Kids get recruited from different clubs all across the country. Not one club has a magic key and sooner or later you will realize that it was always about your DD and her ability.

We can agree with that last sentence.  However, along the way development is happening at much different pace depending on the coach(es) and training.  So I am willing to drive to those coaches and trainings so long as my children are as committed as they should be for the sacrifices they are making.

Not sure why this continues to be so difficult for you to comprehend.  You seem like you really are pumped up about Loudoun so let's use that for an example.  I don't care if Loudoun trains within walking distance of my home if the coaches and trainers are doing what I consider a good job.  I don't care what anyone else considers a good job either.  I am very comfortable in my knowledge of the game and my ability to assess where good development can be found for my children.[/quote]
