[/quote] I think that's part of it, though it's a bit more nuanced than that. For example, I'm a Fed, and my work is both way more interesting and way more socially valuable than it would be in most other places I could live. There are many ways that I could make more money (here and elsewhere), but I wouldn't get as much pleasure out of doing it, so I'm disinclined to leave.[/quote]
