No, it's true. Those schools have been going downhill for decades. For example, Whitman is a GS4 these days and Cold Spring barely gets anyone into the magnets.[/quote]

MCPS has data on the number of highly able students in each middle school cluster. According to the data these schools are Cabin John, Frost, Hoover, Pyle in the Western part of the county and Silver Spring International and Sligo on the Eastern part of the county. For some reason they don’t have data for Takoma Park which should also have high numbers among the inbound students

They seem small compared to the numbers in the SS area which is probably why they located the magnets over there.[/quote]
