In Texas, honking is normal and is a way to ask people to pull over and let you pass. It is considered a totally routine, and not unfriendly, way of communicating with other drivers. In Georgia, everyone drives 25+ mph over the speed limit unless they are drunk, so it's not as prevalent there. Internationally, our custom of letting people impede the flow of traffic is not typical. In Germany, for example, OP might be ticketed based on the behavior he has described engaging in. [/quote]
