Why was yesterday’s BRYC quotes deleted about them losing at Jeff Cup? Thought it was an interesting read. I have a DD who we are thinking of trying out at Braddock. Saw that the team loss but the games were close. Interested in knowing if the coach played to win, or to show his players.
Read previous comments SHOWCASE 1-18 gets on the field.
The "showcases don't matter" trope is a bit old. Although there is more emphasis on getting everyone on the field, these games are still important if for nothing else, to make sure your club gets exposure. It can affect seeding from year to year which is important for Jeff cup because of the way their process works. It is also a good indicator of club depth. When you see a team that does well in league play and gets smoked at Jeff Cup, you may want to think about where your DD will fit on the depth chart for that team.
Seeding for ECNL teams at Jeff cup seems to be going off league standings, ECNL clubs don't need to worry about getting exposure as they have multiple ECNL showcases they will always have spots in. To Non ECNL/DA clubs Jeff cup seeding will be very important....
When you are in a closed league like DA or ECNL no Jeff Cup seeding is not that important because the league provides more showcase environments. Jeff Cup is a nice extra bit of exposure at a well respected showcase. Notice how at U16 and alder that there are no "Finals". These are competitive, glorified scrimmages in front of college coaches. Kids playing well individually and competitively as a team is all that matters. There is no championship game, just a third game. So yes, obsessing over showcase scores at this stage is a waste of time.
t DD is 04. Was not posting to offend Bryc. Heard parents were not happy on playing time, after being promised half. We have a coach right now that plays half, it’s frustrating.
BRYC will be fine. They're the new face of Spirit DA VA
