I look at the travel for weekend games and there is no way in h*ll that I'll bring my boys to a Club going to ECNL.   The thought of going to the Carolinas for weekend games is just plain awful.  Sitting hours upon hours in the car and traffic.  No thanks. I don't care how elite they make it sound.

I am not 'aging soccer dad' from the other thread because I have a U14 and U11, but I played as a kid and have older nieces and nephews and experienced the same cr*p about 'the next big thing/league' every 1-2 years.   It is ridiculous.  I get so pissed about what they have done to youth soccer.

And, the 'you don't have to do it, go play rec' people I would like to punch in the face.  Youth soccer has effectively destroyed the rec program.  Nobody is left in rec soccer.  You have kids that don't show up, don't know basic skills and it's dangerous to put an older kid that knows how to play with kids that can't even control their body  movements and don't know how to tackle.  You get your ankles hacked and feet stepped on, etc.  It is no fun if you are a skilled player playing at such a low level.  So--you have to pay to play at some level and even C-D level teams at the older ages don't possess enough skill so at you will be driving.  EDP is about the only thing I've found to avoid super long trips.[/quote]

I have what I'm sure many will say is a stupid question and I should google it... If it doesn't annoy you and you don't mind answering I have an EDP question. What is EDP league? I have little kids and live in Virginia. I have heard of NCSL, ODSL, CCL, ECNL and DA. Everyone is saying they love the EDP because it's high level and no travel. Do any Virginia teams participate? What age does this start? Girls or boys?[/quote]
