Ok but since you cannot tutor them, and DCPS doesn't provide that sort of support, this kid has to fend for his/herself? That's nuts.

Not sure why everyone is so worked up over PARCC being the gateway for the Walls test. This is LITERALLY the first year that's been the case.

I'm just glad that my kid is heading to Stuart Hobson for 6th grade if we're not lucky in the Latin lottery.  From what I understand, at Hobson, students have to score 4s and 5s on PARCC, and/or 3s and 4s on a DCPS 5th grade report card, to access 6th grade honors classes.  Simple system, works for us with a child who coasted through elementary without breaking a sweat but brought home great report cards, and PARCC scores.[/quote]

Please read again, this thread got hijacked by frustrated prospective new north parents, and SP parents started defending their position. Too bad this happened I was actually watching this thread to know of potential options for my kid who is neither going to SES or New North![/quote]
