No, Aaliyah was not on that path. She was not involved with R Kelly for years. She was deep with Missy Elliott and Timbaland, making music. [/quote] +1 After the annulment she cut off all ties with R. Kelly. She was in a relationship with Dame Dash when she died. Dame Dash has been silent since her death but in light of this documentary, he's spoken out in a recent interview. Basically he said that Aaliyah couldn't even really talk about it and that all she would say was that he was a really bad person.  Dame said that he wouldn't have even been comfortable going there with her without a professional, that's how messed up she was over what had happened with R. Kelly. When Jay Z (who was business partners with Dame at the time through Rockafella) did two albums with R. Kelly,  Dame was pissed and refused to have his name attached to the projects. Dame also refused to take any profits so he gave his portion to Aaliyah's breast cancer charity.

Aaliyah had moved on and did not speak about R. Kelly publically (or personally it seems). Her career was thriving and according to Dame they were in love and planning on marrying. [/quote]
