I thought the point of this was to develop young minds, not to create the next generation of corporate worker bees.[/quote] APS own account of its origins make it pretty plain the point was to attract yuppies back to key elementary in the 1980s. Arlington was very diff then; there were cheap rentals in Lyon village where "bungalows" now stand. Marketing was a big part of it -- well to do parents for whom immersion is a form of enrichment eat it up. The long term benefits are pretty debatable. Would love to know what percentage of native English speakers stick with it and can actually speak Spanish conversationally by the time they get to high school.[/quote]
