Sorry, this is the fallout from 20+ years ago.  Sorry that this accusation was about a young person.

McCarrick was known in Newark to chase after seminarians.  I was actually very surprised when he was given the position in DC since this was known in the NYC area.  What one really needs to understand is that the Catholic church went through a protracted period of attracting gay men to the priesthood. No problem with that, but a problem if the leaders can't be celibate. Then there is the power dynamic, but as we learn, this can be in any profession.

Things are much better today since priests undergo psychological assessment. But this was really only ushered in since the late 1990s.  [/quote]
