I know Amy Coney Barrett. She went to Notre Dame on a full scholarship, but I'm betting she didn't apply to Harvard or Yale because they're not her kind of schools. And not only did she graduate first in the class and with a perfect GPA, which might happen once or twice in a decade at Notre Dame, she got the award for the best exam in every single one of her first year classes except for one and nine times overall -- in other words, not just an A in those classes but the very best exam in them. That's pretty extraordinary no matter where one goes to law school, and Notre Dame is a pretty good law school. Coney Barrett also is not a wacko. Yes, she's conservative and Catholic and a true believer, but she's most definitely not a wacko. She is extremely well regarded by those who know her personally, liberals and conservatives alike.
Unless they were national exams, those awards were meaningless. Exams at ND are not at the same rigor as in Harvard or Yale for sure. Why didn't she apply for Harvard or Yale? For religious reasons?
Clearly you didn't go the law school. Yale Law having "rigorous" exams? Right. Notre Dame is a top 25 law school with an excellent reputation for a traditional, rigorous education. No one graduates from there with a perfect 4.0. No one. Except, of course, for Amy Coney Barrett, who went on to clerk for Justice Scalia and who had 27 fellow law clerks -- many of who went to Harvard and Yale and most of whom were liberal -- attesting to her brilliance and integrity. Say what you want about the woman. But she's brilliant, without question.
