Day 1 was a test for the instructor to get a sense of what to review. Also some factoring quadratics. Day 2 was a lot of simplifying really complex polynomial fractions (fractions within fractions added together). Stressed DD out because she approached it backwards and made it all harder, and she shut down. But, she's back on track (I hope). Not sure if the different groups are doing different things. I think the kids already designated for Functions are in the class w/ the Functions teacher. I don't know about the others. There is a packet of material (exponents, simplifying, factoring quadratics, multiplying quadratics, functions, linear equations, & a few other things) they are working through. Maybe the office would let you pick one up. It would probably help if someone knows math and can check process.
So, is the summer math camp for all those who are admitted to the SMAC magnet program? I thought only students recommended for Functions had a camp. How long is the camp? In the camp are students separated based on the classes recommended for them next year, like Geometry, precalc, functions, etc. or is it only functions vs non-functions?
