I think the unleashed racism and hatred of elites that got Trump elected was in direct response to what Obama embodied. So yes but for different reasons.
What racism? Surely you're not going to dig out that Charlotteville example again, comprising 1/100,000 of 1% of the popualtion? (Less, even.) The fact of the matter is that if racism were as prevalent as you claim, Obama wouldn't have won. (My vote: 2008/Obama, 2012/Romney, 2016/Trump.)
Obama was a bland President. In my opinion the only way to explain the over the top HATRED of him is racism. W was hated because he got a bunch of troops killed. No other President since like, Nixon/LBJ have been as LOATHED as Obama. It just doesn't make sense. The types of things he did, overreach etc, those happened in prior presidencies. The only other thing I can think of is that Obama was elected kind of in line with the dawn of the 24/7 news cycle and mainstream of the internet. But it just doesn't make sense, on paper he is not an extraordinary President for anything OTHER than being black.
Think harder. Condescending even to people in his party. - lots of presidents were dicks, and I don't think he really was one but still Couldn't get a thing done even when his party ran Congress -- for example immigration. Attended for decades a church with an America-hating reverend. A riot a month. Syrian, Lybia and Israel debacles. Oops, Crimea and Ukraine debacles too. Slowest recovery in recorded history. Doubled US public debt. You must live in lalaland.
Condescending even to people in his party. - lots of presidents were dicks, and I don't think he really was one but still. LBJ???? He was a giant ahole. Couldn't get a thing done even when his party ran Congress -- for example immigration. - Um healthcare? Attended for decades a church with an America-hating reverend. No President had an unblemished set of past acquaintances. If anything the focus on who the pastor was at a church he attended speaks to my point of the bizarre level of hatred and scrutiny he faced A riot a month. It wasn't a riot a month, it was periods of turmoil associated with specific events IE Ferguson. Do you not count the LA Race Riots or Kent State as similar type events? The fact that these are blamed on him again, speaks to a weird double standard Syrian, Lybia and Israel debacles. Every President in modern history has had a debacle in the middle east. Trump has ALREADY kind of had a couple (Niger, Isreal, Syria). And oh hey you forgot Benghazi! Oops, Crimea and Ukraine debacles too. You're really going to go to Russia to act like Obama stands alone? PS: no President during the ACTUAL COLD WAR was as hated as Obama Slowest recovery in recorded history. ???? The recession was W's fault, they managed to keep it a recession instead of a depression. He took over in the midst of the crisis and when he turned over the reigns unemployment was rock bottom. In another point in favor of 'weird unexplained bias that of course couldn't be racism' conservatives like to say that Obama's numbers were over inflated because people dropped out of the workforce after giving up but apparently, when Trump took over all of those people flooded back in AND the numbers stayed low so its really all because of him. Which is an insane set of mental gymnastics designed to hate Obama and love Trump. Doubled US public debt. Basically ever President, current one is blowing the budget way worse than Obama. Basically the only President who doesn't have this black mark in recent history is a Clinton, the family of the devil. You must live in lalaland. I'm not saying Obama was perfect, I'm saying he has been judged far more harshly than his peers. Which is true.
Opioid epidemic Predates Obama, other president's facing drug epidemics were not hated. Exploding Obamacare premiums. Other Presidents have presided over unpopular programs/policies/laws without being loathed. China building artificial island and taking over the Pacific with total immunity. How is this Obama's fault? China has been acting like this for decades. No hate toward the Bushes or Bill on this? Dems losing one thousand elected positions at local and state levels. Actually a statistically normal trend. When one party controls all three big parts of gov they typically struggle to retain it (something for you to look forward to for the next few years) Frozen military budgets. Not sure what this means, we spend more on the military than any other country on the planet. And the average civilian doesn't understand this well enough to hate it anyway DOJ's war on police. Holding police departments accountable for systemic reason and being hated for it is basically agreeing with me that the backlash against Obama is racist. Dozens of multinationals moving their headquarters abroad. Tightening up tax loopholes on foreign companies would, in a different day and age, been celebrated by conservatives. How do you jive 'buy american hire american' with this criticism? Want more? You have given not a single unique example except perhaps the DOJ police monitoring. And that one proves my point. All these things happen all the time, budgets, policies, laws, riots. They happen in every presidency. But obama is seen as like the antichrist. What makes him different? Oh yeah that weird bias that definitely has nothing to do with the color of his skin.
Hey dude, are you high? Many of those items are unique to Obama (for example the opioid epidemic, the riots and the Chinese artificial islands). And, even if previous Presidents experienced similar problems too, no President I can remember had, or created, ALL those problems at the same time. And let's add a few, shall we? 20% increase in murders, breaking a 2-decade trend. NSA spying Americans. Guantanamo still open. Much expanded drone killings. Continued decline in international education ratings. The majority of Americans saying we were "on the wrong track". The government forcing religious groups to pay for anticonceptives and abortion services. So much new stupid regulation that universities had to double their non-teaching staff (surprise surprise, tuition rates go up!) Student debt doubled. The majority of Americans saying race relations are worst in decades. Net net, Obama was a pretty bad 2-term President. And he came with ski-high expectations (including among many people who later would vote Trump). So, that disconnect between promises he made and what he delivered was probably the largest in US history -- and paved the way for Trump.
And there's always more... Using the IRS to target conservative groups Using DOJ to prosecute journalists and their sources A Secretary of State with clear conflicts of interests (husband receiving millions from foreign powers) and ignoring basic security protocols Chinese hackers steal millions of SS and vetting records Massive leaks No one prominent banker in jail Millions lose their existing insurance, and millions more have to pay $1,000 on average in order to NOT have health insurance (because of absurd premium rates) Yup, the only problem with President Obama was his skin color...you are kidding yourself.
