I taught at Hopkins while a grad student and it seemed like a tough, unpleasant place for undergrads. As far as I can see, everyone on this thread with a personal Hopkins connection has suggested going to Pomona for undergrad.[/quote]

Nope.  I’m a former Hopkins prof who recommended it as an excellent place for undergrads who are seriously considering careers in academia.  Which is how OP described her DC.  [/quote]
