[/quote] Doesn't make sense to rehome the dog - and dog serves pretty such as emotional support/therapy for a kid with serious challenges. Which was a big part of why we got the dog. Cat will be euthanized unless my aging father in law wants to take her. I would trust him to care for her and he probably needs a pal.
