Overall SAT averages are very similar for FCHS and Annandale.  In fact, white kids at Falls Church HS have essentially the same SAT average as white kids at Fairfax HS, Hayfield, Annandale,  and Edison.  (about 1650 on the old scale).  HHI has a lot of influence on academic outcomes.

Note that white kids at Lee, Mt. Vernon and Stuart/Justice are a solid 100 points lower than Falls Church, Fairfax, Hayfield and Edison.  Lower HHIs ===> lower SATs.  It's not fair to compare the overall average SAT b/c that is skewed by the different percentages of ESOL/FARMS kids in each school.  By comparing white kids in one school to white kids in another, we are controlling for almost all of the ESOL kids and for most (not all) of the FARMS.

Lee, Mt. Vernon and Stuart are the bottom tier of FCPS.

Annandale, Falls Church, Hayfield, Edison and yes, Fairfax, are the next tier up.

Rezoning LJ isn't going to push it further than FCHS already is pushed: 55% FARMS at FCHS -- and yet, some kids who aren't dealing with poverty or language issues are still doing well.  People who bought into the FCHS pyramid knew what they were buying.  FCHS (including the FARMS and ESOL rates, as well as the SATs),  is already priced into the housing market.

Falls Church HS is going to be pretty much the same as it always has been.  Not the worst.  Not the greatest.  [/quote]
