Can we at least dispense with the thoroughly debunked "equal pay" argument? Men and women working side by side, doing the same work, with similar education and experience earn the same pay - or within a couple of percentage points at least. We all know the only thing "the man" likes better than keeping women down is money. If they could squeeze out 23% extra profit, male unemployment would skyrocket over night.
Not debunked in data. I've seen it first hand. Massive percentage points. The glass ceiling exists. Particularly obvious the higher you climb.
+1. The market argument maybe works when you're hiring the grunts. But the market breaks down when you get to the upper levels? You think Jared Kushner got rich because he produces so much more of value than everyone else? When you talk about real money, it's more about social connections and the good old boy network.
So wait, are we supposed to feel sad because women at the Jared Kushner level of the world supposedly aren't making enough money and getting enough promotions? "She got to VP but never made CEO" - cry me an effing river. If the struggle for "equal pay" has been won except for the very upper echelons of corporate America, it is time for feminism to declare victory and go away.
That's where you are wrong my friend. The women that make it to the top have all the negative male characteristics (a-hole, cut throat, aggressive, etc) AND female characteristics (pushy, nasty, catty, back-stabbing biatchery, etc) rolled into one package. They will not rest until they win world domination.
Thank God women abroad are not as crazy as SOME of the specimens we have back here. Remember that recent letter by French women attacking #MeToo excesses? That took guts.
Actually no. The wage difference is biggest at the low end of the job market. The assistant manager in some small town in Arkansas. A female would be not considered for the job or paid a lot less vs a male. In the urban white-collar jobs, the pay gap is small if it exist at all. Big professional companies have HR departments. The Jared Kushner of the world do well because they start with a lot of money and connections. Starting wealthy is the biggest factor to become more wealthy. There are many men who are not in the old boys club- that’s all about money and status. There are many women in the old boys club -right school, right parents, right country club, etc. Think of the opportunities, starting capital and connections Trump’s daughters have enjoyed.
