Not sure what brought this thread back to life, but Wootton parent here - one graduated and two more there now. Awesome school for academics, athletics, service, college prep, social environment, etc. Completely pleased with every aspect. Those of you who have "heard" this or that have no idea what you are talking about. Firsthand experiences or it never happened.
I'm sure your kids' experiences were fine, and the school works for your kids, but not all kids have great experiences there. It is a pressure cooker, and not all kids and parents want that.
My kid was an average student at Wootton and now a freshman in college. He just told me last week, while wrapping up a freshman writing project, "Mom, high school was really tough, but I'm starting to realize how well prepared I am...A lot of kids here are really struggling with this assignment." That was really good to hear. They acknowledge that it is a rigorous program - "pressure cooker" in your words - but hell, every college admissions tour that I've attended has stressed the importance of "rigor of high school curriculum." I think Wootton - and the other similar schools in MoCo - is doing something right.
