Agree with PP. I am sure there are some Jewish teachers but not many. Why don't they just do a survey? Most other clusters in MD do not give off for Jewish holidays. What do the Jewish teachers do then? The Jewish population has sharply decreased in MC since the 80's, especially Orthodox. I can't imagine more than 3-5% of the teachers are Jewish. Show us numbers MCPS. Back up your reasons.
This is based on nothing but your own prejudiced speculation.
+1000 I have many Jewish friends who teach in MCPS. You think you can tell someone's religion from their last name? Ridiculous.
Um, teachers let their students know what holidays they celebrate. I give teacher gifts for their holidays. No one said anything about last names or presentation. Do you think more than 10% of MCPS teachers are Jewish? I don't. Sorry, no need to start with 3 weeks of school with Monday's off for a minority holiday. If anything, think outside the box MCPS. Plan grade events those days. No loss of school and childcare issues for 90+% of the population that can go. Break up the boring ass crap they do all day everyday.
