First, the top 2/3 of any given TJ class can reliably gain admission. You don"t get in to UVA based on what,you did in Ms. Once you get to TJ, you largely start over.  And you still have to achieve.  Most kids know based on the numbers if they will get in when they apply.

Second UVA is not the best school for every kid.  By a long shot.  Some people on this board are so laser focused on how to get their kid into UVA. It's really not clear why.  For me, it would be whether my kid could get into WM-- much better fit.

And third, you don't send a kid to TJ to game admissions. You send them for the experiences they have 4 years they are at TJ.   If you and your kid do not want the 4 years with the unique classes and labs and peer group, don't send your kid.  TJ is not for every kid. And if you are asking what the point is if UVA admission is not guaranteed, TJ is not right for your family.  [/quote]
